Many of us grew up in the sandbox pushing toy trucks and imagining ourselves behind the wheel of real machines. We watched family members come home from construction sites with dusty work boots and safety vests, proud of the work they did to build the world around us. Today, those same industries face a critical shortage. According to the Associated General Contractors of America, 94 percent of construction firms report difficulty filling craft worker positions and 85 percent struggle to hire salaried staff. Source
The construction workforce is aging rapidly, with 22.3 percent of all construction workers now 55 or older. At the same time, younger workers are not entering the field fast enough, since only 10 percent of the construction workforce is under age 25, compared to 13.6 percent of the overall U.S. labor force. This widening age gap signals a looming loss of experienced workers and an urgent need to attract new talent into the trades. Source
BC Studios LLC exists to change that. Through interactive digital media and gamified storytelling, we aim to inspire the next generation of men and women to explore skilled trades, understand industrial processes, and see blue collar careers as creative, essential, and rewarding. Our flagship project, Crusher Tycoon, introduces players to real equipment and real workflows from the aggregates and heavy equipment industries. The goal is to spark curiosity and build awareness through play.
We believe games can do more than entertain. They can educate, recruit, and reshape how people see the trades. By making industrial careers visible, engaging, and inclusive, we help build a stronger and more diverse workforce for the future.
